The Hanover Township Senior Center was dedicated on April 2, 2005. It is a visible symbol of the support that this community has for its elders. A senior tax referendum, "Support Our Seniors," was passed in November 2002 thanks to our seniors whose dedication and hard work incited its passage. This referendum allowed for the construction and maintenance of a new senior center. Opperman Architects, Inc. and contractor, Lamp, Inc. worked along with our Supervisor, Clerk, Board of Trustees, and the Director of Senior Services to achieve a dream that benefits all adults, age 55 and over, who live in Hanover Township.
The Senior Center is located north of the Hanover Township building at 240 South Illinois Route 59 in Bartlett. Our hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm, Saturday 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. We invite you to drop in or call 630.483.5600 for more information.
The Senior Services Department offers a wide variety of advantages to the seniors who live in our Township. We offer transportation, recreational programs and trips, social services as well as many opportunities for volunteerism.
|
Our mission is to act as an advocate for seniors; to empower older adults by providing information, emotional support, social opportunities, nutrition and transportation to maintain an independent lifestyle within the community. Our foremost goal is to offer an additional support system in which a senior feels a sense of belonging and can grow through choices which enhance the joy of living as he/she adapts to the continuum of life changes.

Community Nutrition Network
Community Nutrition Network, Inc. (CNN) operates a nutrition site at our facility. A daily hot lunch or deli-bar is available Monday - Friday at 11:45am for a suggested donation of $2.75. Volunteers deliver Meals-On-Wheels to the homebound frail elderly. Assessments for that service are conducted by Catholic Charities Northwest located in Arlington Heights.

Senior Services Committee
This advisory committee to the Hanover Township Board of Trustees is made up of residents who represent the senior population of the Township on issues and concerns of interest to seniors. President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are elected officers. The committee meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 12:30pm in the Senior Center to discuss programs and services, and meetings are open to the public.
The fundraising arm of the committee operates "Ye Olde Gift Shoppe" located in the reception area of the Senior Center. Profits from their sales are used to sponsor programs, pay for entertainment and purchase raffle prizes.
